A few things pop into my mind.
1. how about when creating a new post if the subscribing could be a checkbox when creating a new message? this way you d don't h have to wait for it to take you to your topic before you can hit the s subscribe link.
2. how about a list of subscribed topics someware. perhaps this could be on the main page underneith your board faves?
3. after hitting "Reply" or "Create topic butten, how about just moving you to the board you were viewimg as aposed to the topic you created or replyed too?
What do people think of this and is anything unclear?

I definitely agree about after you post a topic, it should take you to the board you were in before, because after you make a post, you're not gonna sit there and read it again. The other 2 suggestions would be nice, but not completely necessary. I thought of another suggestion though. Instead of having the topics with new posts, latest posts, etc. topics in the combo box, why not make them links? They're easier to get to that way.
I like your suggestions in addition to my own.. All these suggestions aren't necessary per say, it is just something that would make the boards something to my preffrences. Can't speak for others though.

i love the idea about the check box for the subscription, it could be next to the preview box. not sure about the idea of a list of subscribed topics, when you are not loged in you get email notification, and a system message when you are loged in so, i can't see the point in that, apart from maybe if you wanted to unsubscribe.
i love the links idea, combo boxes i don't like that much.
and when you post a topic, taking you to the direct board you were in sounds very useful
I realize you get an e-mail when a new post comes in. the reason I'm suggesting this is so that you can see a list of your subscribed topics and unsubscribe if you so choose. as it is right now i have no idea which topics i have subscribed too. some haven't been made posts too in a while. the only way you know if you subscribed to a topic is to go to the topic and it'll show you that you are subscribed. would be nice to have a list of them. just a thought.

That would be nice. I have the same problem.
i like all three of the first ideas, would save time, and plus i have no clue as to waht topics i'm subscribed to anymore. as for going back to the board you posted in, very nice if that could be added, as an option maybe
I love the combo boxes they are much quicker to navigate.
something we finally agree on cody.
Next time I look at this code, and ya it's a mess, I'll try to do some of this. I am also partial towards the combo box, as it's a space saver.
